Fluoropgypsum has low hydration activity and can not be used as cementing material directly. The activator is the most effective way to improve the hydration activity of fluoropgypsum. Inorganic salts, especially sulfate, have a significant catalytic effect on the hydration of fluoropgypsum. Under the action of the activator, the hydration of anhydrous fluoropgypsum produces plate or columnar dihydrous gypsum crystals. The plate or columnar crystals are interwoven at the beginning to form a relatively dense hydration product hardening body, which plays a very favorable role in the strength of the hardening body. After the addition of activator, the setting time of fluoropagsum is greatly shortened and the strength is significantly increased. The soluble salt in the activator reacts with calcium sulfate during the hydration of fluoropgypsum, and the strength increases with the increase of the hydration degree of fluoropgypsum. On the other hand, due to the continuous crystallization of CaS04.2H20, the slurry forms a closely interwoven crystal structure, causing condensation and hardening, thus shortening the setting time. However, when the content of activator exceeds 0.4%, the hydration rate slows down and the strength weakens. The dosage of activator should be 4%.
